One of China'a growth/export strategy is (and was) always to attract Chineese enterprenuers who settled in the west, so that they can bring technology and market(links).
Now they want all the other chineese to come back, as it is more of country's requirement of quality work force of their own, it seems.
US will loose the edge slowly, if they don't act quickly in not only in retaining talented immigrants and need to do "lot" other things.
Infact USA has given so much to immigrants but I don't understand why they don't try to retain them.I learned lot of technicals/mgnt skills and now I am sure lot of other countries need my skill-set.

What would be the unused family sponsored preferences in 2007. This is the number which EB can use this year.

Filed on July 12, 2007 but got a wrong receipt date on receipt notice which is Aug 17, 2007. My attorney followed and CIS needs proof and we sent FedEx acknowledgement, still waiting no response.
Got AP approved, EAD approved and received cards but no finger prints yet. Called CIS number of times "the only asnwer is wait" but when I called last (Dec 18, 2007) time support rep opened a SR said this SR will start after Jan 18, 2008......
No idea what's going on....here...

You can change the address of you I-485 application online at
https://egov.uscis.gov/crisgwi/go?action=coa
I have done this when i moved at the end of May. I also recieved a confirmation mail that the address on my application has changed.

There is a problem with my wife's date of birth certificate. The brith certificate holds the original date of birth (May 1973) where as the all other ceritificates like school records, passports is having different date of birth (Dec 1973) (usually in India we used to change the date of birth to get into the kindergarden with some early date of birth). I am unable to get the Non-availability certificate as the original birth certificate already exists. Correcting the date of birth all the certificates and passports is not possible and it may took a long time as we need to go through court.
I am planning to submit the affidavits from parents alongwith the other certificates like 10th Mark sheets, etc., Pls advise - Is it ok?.
Otherwise I can submit the original brith certificate alongwith affidavits from parents and relatives saying that the date of birth is mistakenly registered.
Please help.

My EAD expires on - 10/10/2008. I had e-filed on 10/01/2008 for renewal.
I-140 approved. I 485 peding since Aug 2007.
Should I continue working after 10/10 as my current EAD will expire. Can I use my e-field receipt notice to continue my employment ?

True but most people don't know the difference between passing it in senate and signing it into law - they will think it simply passed (this has been my experience when talking to GC/485 newbies). Please say something like "which was passed in the senate (upper house of parliament), short of passing into law".

ok..here is part 2.
Employer was able to speak to USICIS officer. He asked
whethere
1) I was contractor
2) from when I was employed
3) Work timings
4) exact office Location
my supervisor asked why all these questions about location and timing they said they will do a site visit
I feel if my app can trigger this than any other app could...
The USICs is just getting crazy with all the bueracacy crap

Heard this from our company lawyer .... uscis will issue RFE for all I-485 applications that are pending for a while to make sure the applicant still has the job offer. He got this from a very reliable source. I dont know how true it is...just sharing what I have heard.
Can you share your company lawyer's name before when you are spreading these kind of speculative rumors ....use commonsense before posting

Red dots will not matter (even 100000000 reds do not pull hair), butthat filthy language hurts.
If real person who commented it is visible, then it shd be ok, so that we can deal with that fella.
When sush a system is in place, people may not leave filthy comments i guess.
Anonymous nature of this dotting business leading to the real culture/pshyco attitiude of those dotmongers.

In addition to my above question can u please also tell me that if the visa officer told u after ur interview that u would need to come on friday to pick get ur visa stamp or did they jst say that they will inform him? secondly do u remember by any chance that if the visa officer told u that u would have certain # of days to come and stamp ur visa once they inform u that ur visa is ready for stamping?

Thanks everyone for the input. Does anyone know if they issue the renewed EAD starting at the end of the current EAD or does the renewed EAD start on the day the case gets updated? If the answer is latter then I don't want to bother pushing the lawyer (not that they care anyways ;-)
my lawyer said that if anyone uses EAD to work or planning to use EAD soon (not H1B) then it is better to apply for EAD renewal before 6 months of current one expires. If you are in H1B not planning to use EAD even in future then you can renew it 3-4 months before expiry.

H1B - LCA Related Issues - How can we save ourselves ???

I guess everybody know by now that ICE arrested 11 H1 workers mainly due to mail fraud/wire fraud, and these frauds
I am starting this thread to discuss what we can do to save ourselves from LCA related issues.
** LCA is very important and H1 b employees should work as per LCA - Period.
Location, job and every thing should be as per LCA. No questions.
I am afraid, most of the H1b guys do not even have LCAs with them.
** This is very concerned for all the DESI Consulting companies H1 employees, as we never work at LCA place. I am going to give ultimatum to my employer to change LCA and keep all the docs in place. Otherwise i am going to change to employer, where they are good wrt papers.
Please throw your suggestions to make our H1 system clean and save H1 employees.
Whenever you move from one state to another....urge your employer to file the LCA amendment. Thats the only way to save ourself.
