Thats great! Thank you for the answers.

I think 3gs is very smooth, didnt see any lag so far and i am playing with it a lot.

The reason i couldnt buy ip4 is its price here in Turkey, it is around 1300USD.

Hopefully i will switch to iphone 5 in september if i can buy from the UK as simfree version. Are simfree versions available with the first launch? Or they wait carriers to sell enough contracts first?

Thanks for your advice and suggestions. I think I will go ahead with a bluetooth mouse and definitely save my money on RAM, and also stick with a simple stand rather than a fan powerd cooler. Thanks again.

seriosly no Vancouver thread yet ?

    So what will it be?

Apple store vs Best buy or Futureshop ?

I want to go to the Apple store in Pacific centre but am afraid that I won't stand a chance unless I started lining up in the wee hours of morning

I like the best buy line/ticket system (and I am guessing futureshop will have something similar as well? They did for boxing day)

so where are you guys going?

... But PLEASE SOMEBODY help me here! ..as i said, im not very computer literate and only just started producing music using computers so please use dummy terms lol ..thanks in advance

The amazon.com page you linked to did not have any meaningful specs. They only list the kinds of interface and give no performance numbers. So this could be working just fine but only it's a slow drive.

Also when people say to record to an external they mean only your data goes there. keep all thos system files on the system drive

After being down for nearly a day, it is STILL NOT available for download. I just don't like the fact that all iOS product being the slaves of iTunes. (Now it is available for windows and still not for mac, apple fix mac things first!).

I never thought of iTunes, as the most essential software for all the iOS devices. I realized it, when I deleted iTunes due to sync issues and could not find a installable copy from Apple.com or any where.

Next time, download first, before deleting for re-install.

That IS the lesson, download first. But this is also a first, I have never been not able to download something from Apple.

Maybe the GPU just needs to be reflowed?

That wasn't an issue on that series of powerbooks. Also, I wouldn't recommend attempting a reflow.. a new logic board is much easier, especially since I dont think it is a reflow issue - since the gfx is working but corrupted.

Well, I wouldn't say it is brutal to the point of being unplayable. The point of the game is to collect these things called "Spectra" in each level. You do this by getting your character to climb higher and explore more of the levels. But you have a limited time to do this. That is where the difficulty comes in. The mechanic of the game is very easy to grasp and pretty easy to master. It is the time limit that gives me the most problems.

It is a very fun game though. I didn't mean to give the wrong impression. The game, as with all of the PixelJunk games, is very fun and has a very unique graphical look and great soundtrack. Easily worth a purchase from the PSN.

Just played around with the demo. It seems fun, I might actually get it. I'm going to sleep on it first though. I tend to make decisions I regret when it's late at night. :p

You'll probably get different answers but my opinion would be that unless the game requires it, don't upgrade to a later system.

^^^ I agree with this. I'm not a big fan of running 8.x on 68K hardware.

For vintage gear, I like to stick to OS versions close to what the Mac shipped with (if it were me, I'd downgrade the 575 to 7.1). Any non-rare Mac from the G3 down can be had for next to nothing these days, so if you have an app that requires 8.0, I'd go grab a machine more suitable to run it. Then again, I'm always looking for an excuse to bring home another machine. :p

A big problem with the big megapixels is the amount of storage they take on your phone. You cannot adjust the megapixel size down with a phone camera like you can with a point & shoot camera.

I think you can adjust the resolution on Windows Phone 7.
    http://www.mobileshop.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/WP7-resetting-camera-settings-Microsoft-says-its-meant-to-do-that.jpg

Pretty much every phone I've had has has adjustable resolution settings.

    More about it here (http://www.macworld.com/news/2005/07/05/smithmicro/index.php?lsrc=mcrss).

Smith Micro makes FAXstf X (fax software) and QuickLink Mobile (wireless connectivity software) and was interested in Allume because of their newly developed compression software.Allume recently announced the development of a JPEG compression technique that yields a 30 percent reduction in the size of images without any penalty on image quality, and the company expects to be able to apply a similar technique to MPEG video and MP3 audio files.

reebzor: Given that I can't have wiring running around to the speakers (that need to be on opposite ends of the room), unfortunately this won't work.

waw74: It sounds like airplay speakers would be the best bet for ease of setup (in theory). The ihome option looks really nice - what a bummer they aren't available yet. Looks like the only AirPlay speaker available now is the Zeppelin Air ($600 apiece, so $1200 for a pair...wow). I'm a bit confused why it has a dock though, since it seems the reason for buying one would be to use airplay, but maybe I am missing the point.

Sounds like Airport Express would be the least expensive option. I didn't know I can make an Express a "base" without having internet access. So to make sure i understand ... I would buy 2 Airport Expresses. I would connect my MBP to one AirPort Express (no internet connection needed), and then have the AirPort Express create a wireless network, which I could then connect the second AirPort Express to using my MBP. The just plug speakers in the Expresses on opposite sides of the room, and I'll be good to go, correct?

    Thanks-

I just received my quote from the "Business Manager" at the local Apple store. I have to purchase through my wife's company so the quote is just for the 12" iBook without any upgrades.

However, I would like to upgrade to the 60gb drive. When I bring them the company check do you think I can just add the upgrade then and pay the difference myself. I think it's only $50 for the upgrade.

Also, if I am able to upgrade, do I have to wait long for the upgrade?

Thanks for your help. I am getting ready to purchase my first iBook and I'm not very familiar with dealing with Apple.

    Don't knock OS 9.
I remember using OS X for the first time when I was probably 14 and I couldn't stand it. It wasn't that I didn't like it but everything seemed so much different on OS 9. However I love OS X now. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

And have they done this for HP yet? Got a 5850 wi-fi printer that according to HP's site is no longer supported for drivers.

Shame :( - it is a great printer under OS 10.5, but I need to get a new MacBook soon, and I want double sided printing!

    I did what parapup suggested.

I went with OWC with their data doubler combo which was the 128SSD (115 usable) with the optibay for 279. I then bought the optical drive housing for 24 from max upgrades total around 310.

Its about what I wanted to spend and hopefully I'll only use the HD for data storage.

Stupid question, will the OSX install disc boot from the external drive or do I need to replace my main HD, then install osx, then replace the optical drive?

also, time machine will have no trouble right?

THANKS for all your help guys

I know this might be a stupid question but i have been googling for hours now and i cannot find a solution.
Is there a way to unlock any other basebands off the iPhone 4 not only 1.59.00 that ultrasn0w does.? And if so can you please supply a list of the basebands that are unlockable with Verson 4.0iOS and up.?

The iOS version has nothing to do with unlocking, only the baseband matters. Now the only free way to unlock an iPhone 4 is with ultrasn0w and it must be baseband 1.59.00. You can however use a Gevey SIM or have a company do it for you. These will cost money.
